J. E. Bates

Rev. J. E. Bates
About This Author

"Rev. J. E. Bates is a native of Texas. He was converted in boyhood and sanctified wholly in the early days when H. C. Morrison and Bud Robinson were doing campmeeting work in Texas. Having acknowledged a call to preach, Brother Bates became a student at Asbury and at Peniel. He was prominent in the evangelistic work, served as pastor of the College church at Peniel, as superintendent of the North Dakota District and later as superintendent of the Southern California District. Finally the church took him from his regular line of service and made him Missionary Superintendent for the Orient. But when, on account of
financial pressure, the Missionary Superintendents were called home, Brother Bates again took up his “first love,” by entering the evangelistic field."
